# HCT116 CDX Model

The HCT116 cell line is derived from human colorectal cancer (CRC), one of the most common malignancies globally. This cell line serves as a cornerstone in studying the biology, pathogenesis, and therapeutic responses of CRC. It is especially known for its microsatellite instability (MSI), a distinct genetic trait that results from defects in the DNA mismatch repair system, making HCT116 particularly relevant for research into this subset of colorectal tumors. HCT116 exhibits many molecular features and genetic mutations typically seen in CRC patients, making it a highly representative model for preclinical studies. The in vitro and in vivo behavior of HCT116 provides a window into the growth dynamics, invasive properties, and potential metastatic tendencies of CRC. Researchers widely use HCT116 to dissect molecular pathways in CRC, test drug responses, especially in MSI-high tumors, and to develop novel therapeutic approaches targeting CRC’s unique vulnerabilities.
